TotalEnergies Charging Solutions Deutschland and the REWE Group, one of Germany’s leading food retailers, have entered into a partnership to set up charging infrastructure at REWE supermarkets and PENNY discount stores throughout Germany. The aim of the partnership is to set up fast-charging hubs with four to eight charging points and up to 300 kW charging power at at least 100 stores by 2025.
REWE Group stores are an ideal location for the charging infrastructure as they represent a natural hub for mobility in both urban and rural areas. Depending on the location, TotalEnergies will deploy needs-based charging technology to meet the different requirements of users.
Partnerships such as this one with the REWE Group are of great importance in driving e-mobility forward in Germany. Our aim is to set up charging infrastructure where the vehicles are parked. With our offer, we enable all REWE and PENNY customers to enjoy a carefree charging experience while shopping. Depending on the vehicle and charging status, green electricity for up to 300 kilometres can be recharged in just 20 to 30 minutes,
says Jan Petersen, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Charging Solutions Deutschland GmbH.
Telerik Schischmanow, CFO of REWE Group, adds: The retail sector plays a key role in the ramp-up of e-mobility for everyday use. REWE Group is working with strong partners to expand the charging options at our stores. We are expanding our e-infrastructure with the rapid charging points from TotalEnergies: this additional offering makes everyday life much easier for our customers and employees. Furthermore, fast-charging points are another strong incentive to shop locally, which we are happy to offer our customers. As part of our own climate ambitions, we are planning to install a total of 6,000 charging points at existing owner-occupied and rental properties as well as new buildings across Germany by 2025. Our partnership with TotalEnergies makes an important contribution to this.
The partnership with the REWE Group underlines TotalEnergies’ strategic commitment to the expansion of electromobility in Germany and Europe. In the case of charging infrastructure projects on publicly accessible partner sites, TotalEnergies not only handles the investment but also the entire process from conceptualisation and structural implementation through to operation and maintenance of the charging infrastructure.
