In February 2010, the REWE Group successfully completed the initial rating process and received a rating of BBB- (outlook: stable) from S&P. Since then, this investment grade rating has been continually monitored and updated in annual management meetings and through ongoing communication between the REWE Group and the rating agency. In July 2022, the REWE Group’s rating was upgraded to BBB (outlook: stable).
In the analysis, S&P especially commended the REWE Group’s stable business profile, with its excellent market positions in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. The REWE Group is also recognised as a driver of innovation, for example, as one of the first retail companies to introduce convenience formats, use regional and organic produce, and introduce online food retail across Germany. The REWE Group’s investment grade rating provides assurance of the Group’s security and stability to third parties. This provides the basis for obtaining financing via the capital market and thus supports the diversification of financing sources.
