Our purpose

Together, we are the first point of contact for political issues relating to the food trade and Travel and Tourism in Germany.

    The cooperative REWE Group is one of the largest companies in Germany. We want to support politicians with our expertise and practical experience and work together to meet the demands placed on the retail sector and the economy. Thanks to our direct customer contact, we know exactly what moves people in Germany. As REWE Group’s policy team, we see ourselves as mediators between the various stakeholder groups from politics and our customers, specialist colleagues and independent retailers. Our stores are not just places to shop, but also places to meet and exchange ideas. This function as a communicative and informative platform for politics, business and society is a central pillar of our self-image.

    As a cooperative, REWE Group lives by values such as openness, Sustainability and a sense of responsibility – from the employer side to entrepreneurship and our political commitment. Our independent retailers play a decisive role in determining REWE Group’s entrepreneurial course. This community forms the foundation of our long-term oriented corporate culture and distinguishes us from many listed companies. We believe that the cooperative form of doing business, with its long-term perspective geared towards economic sustainability, is decisive for our success and our sense of responsibility, crisis-proof and forward-looking.

  • Where we want to go

    Our large workforce and our roots in the city and the countryside enable us to recognize developments and trends at an early stage. We want to use these insights to make our contribution as a policy department to ensuring that REWE Group can continue to operate in a sustainable manner even in a tough competitive environment. To this end, we would like to outline the relevant framework conditions in discussions with politicians and promote our positions. This also applies to our retail formats in other European countries, which we have been operating successfully for decades. Through many personal exchanges, we have a far-reaching insight into the needs of our customers, retailers and employees. As REWE Group’s policy team, it is our goal to give these needs a voice and to be an accessible mediator between politicians and citizens.

In addition to our Central locations in Cologne, our team is also represented in Berlin and Brussels. Our different biographies help us to shed light on topics from different perspectives. We combine our technical expertise with the ability to break new ground and are a competent point of contact for our political contacts.
