Cologne/Frankfurt, 19 July 2019. DER Touristik Group, the REWE Group’s Travel and Tourism business segment, is expanding in Eastern Europe: its subsidiary Exim Holding AS, based in Prague, is purchasing the tour operator and sales activities of Touring Europabus Romania, Nova Travel and Danubius Travel after the successful assignment to Travel Brands SRL based in Bucharest. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
With the proposed acquisition of Travel Brands SRL, Exim Holding is acquiring the largest travel agency chain in Romania with 80 branches, two head office locations and a total of 370 employees. All employees and locations will be retained. Sören Hartmann, CEO of DER Touristik Group: We will also be keeping on the existing management team. Following the proposed acquisition, DER Touristik Group will ramp up its activities in Romania. It is currently possible to book products from its tour operator brands Dertour, ITS, Billa Reisen, Jahn Reisen, Meiers Weltreisen, ADAC Reisen and Travelix in Romania. DER Touristik Group is now also entering the Romanian market with its own travel agency network. As part of a European travel group, Travel Brands will benefit from numerous synergies within the DER Touristik Group.
The acquisition is a further step in the internationalisation of DER Touristik Group. We can confidently expect significant growth in the Eastern European travel market, especially in Romania,
says Sören Hartmann. With this acquisition, we are creating the basis for even stronger growth in the Eastern European market – both for tour operators and travel agencies.
