The first toom Baumarkt store opened in Frankfurt am Main in 1978. toom is now one of Germany’s leading DIY brands, with more than 300 stores (toom Baumarkt, B1 Discount Baumarkt and Klee garden centres) and gross sales of over 3.2 billion euros (2020).

At the product level, toom aims to steadily develop the circular economy in order to use resources effectively and reduce waste accordingly, or even avoid the production of waste entirely.
toom’s commitment to sustainability can also be seen in its initiatives to safeguard fair working conditions throughout the supply chain. For instance, as part of its annual sales of Christmas trees, toom has been working alongside the Danish Fair Trees Fund since 2018 to ensure safe, fair conditions for workers harvesting seed in the Georgian Caucasus. toom also takes its responsibility towards society very seriously and supports charitable organisations throughout Germany, such as Lebenshilfe e.V.
