Since May 1, REWE, together with brand ambassador Jamal Musiala, has been calling for support for amateur sports clubs in Germany: For More Life in Sports Clubs is the motto of this edition of the successful “Scheine für Vereine” campaign. The professional soccer player knows exactly what he’s talking about when he praises the friendship, camaraderie, and tolerance found in Germany’s many amateur sports clubs. After all, Jamal Musiala began his own career at TSV Lehnerz in Fulda. Together with Musiala, club members, family, friends, and even neighbors can once again contribute to supporting amateur sports clubs.

I think REWE’s ‘Scheine für Vereine’ campaign is fantastic, and I’m very happy to support it. I myself have very fond memories of my time at TSV Lehnerz in Fulda, where I took my first steps in soccer as a Bambini. It’s important to promote club life and support the many volunteers in their work. Sports clubs play a major role in social cohesion and integration. As a person and an athlete, I identify 100 percent with these values. I’m seeing just how important the work of sports clubs is right now, especially with my little brother. He’s part of a great club, SV Straßlach; he feels at home there and has already made lots of friends, says Jamal Musiala.

For every purchase made between May 1 and June 11 at participating REWE or nahkauf stores or through the REWE online shop, customers will receive one club voucher for every 15 euros spent. Customers can submit their club coupons online at rewe.de/scheinefürvereine to a sports club so that the club can secure the free rewards. To ensure that amateur sports clubs can redeem the assigned club vouchers, they must register for the promotion by July 9, 2023. Clubs also have until that date to redeem the coupons for free rewards. An extensive catalog offers a selection of over 120 attractive free rewards for many different sports. As a special reward this time, the campaign includes a limited-edition, exclusive REWE jersey, which REWE is also supporting financially. Each set includes five jerseys, available in either black or red. In addition to the REWE logo, the “Scheine für Vereine” logo is also featured.

One of the clubs that has participated in every round of “Scheine für Vereine” so far is the Weiden Tennis Club in Cologne. This has already resulted in 20 prizes: from training aids for children and teens to foosball tables and electric dartboards, as well as waffle irons and sandwich makers used at various events. The club motivates its members, for example, through its own social media channels. Anyone who doesn’t want to submit their club coupons individually can hand them in to our various teams or at the office. There, we can then assign them collectively, says board member Saskia Thurm. This year, the club has set a goal of collecting club vouchers to purchase a beverage cooler and a gas grill.

The example from Cologne shows that sports clubs themselves also have a role to play in the campaign by encouraging as many people as possible to collect club vouchers for them: On a special campaign-website, users can create personalized GIFs, posters, and videos that sports clubs can share on Instagram, WhatsApp, and other platforms to rally members, friends, and acquaintances.

By the way, any registered amateur sports club in Germany can participate. Membership size isn’t the deciding factor when it comes to which or how many free rewards a sports club can receive. Rather, it’s all about teamwork to collectively breathe new life into the sports club. Over 20,000 sports clubs actively participated with great enthusiasm in the last campaign in 2022. They redeemed nearly 54 million club vouchers for over 93,000 rewards that support their work and training within the clubs. The total value of all rewards combined was over 14.5 million euros.

Clubs can contact [email protected] with any questions regarding registration.
