Long-term commitment until summer 2028 underlines strong ties

REWE Group is firmly committed to 1. FC Köln: today (29th August) we have extended our commitment as main and jersey partner ahead of schedule until 30 June 2028. This means that REWE will continue to be visible on the second division club’s jerseys and stadium banners for the next four seasons. We are thus sending a strong and trusting signal for the long-term support of the Club.

Over the past 17 years, an outstanding partnership has developed between 1 FC Köln and REWE. We are therefore delighted that we are continuing our joint journey and strategically developing our cooperation, says Sven Spork, Divisional Director of REWE Group. The recipe for success lies in the values that unite us: FC and REWE Group are committed to tolerance, diversity, integration, inclusion and sustainability through a wide range of campaigns. In recent years, for example, we have repeatedly dispensed with our own shirt advertising on selected match days in order to promote relevant institutions and their causes. We also want to activate our partnership even more by creating special, emotional fan experiences.

FC Managing Director Markus Rejek says: No other main and jersey partner has supported FC for so long in the club’s entire history and hardly any other logo has been on the chest of a German professional football team for so long. FC and REWE Group cultivate this special partnership through a trusting cooperation and constantly reinvent it through creative measures. The premature extension is a remarkable signal that emphasises that Cologne stands together, especially in challenging times.

REWE Group has been a partner of 1. FC Köln since the summer of 2003 and its main and shirt partner since the 2007/2008 season. The partnership has seen acclaimed promotions and participation in European competitions, but has also withstood relegations and challenging times such as the coronavirus pandemic. More than 630,000 jerseys with the red REWE lettering on the chest have been sold to date. Marketing studies regularly show that the combination of 1. FC Köln and REWE is one of the most recognisable in the Bundesliga – even among fans of other clubs. The jerseys of the eSports team and the FC’s traditional team also feature the REWE logo on the chest. These partnerships have also been extended until summer 2028.
