DER Touristik Foundation: Over 50,000 euros collected for Rhodes At the beginning of August, DER Touristik called for donations for Rhodes. Over 50,000 euros have now been handed over to support the people affected by the forest fires. The forest fires on Rhodes caused extensive damage in the southern part of the island. Thousands of holidaymakers had to be evacuated at the end of July. To support local partners and the affected population, DER Touristik Foundation e.V. launched a fundraising campaign at www.dertouristik-foundation.com at the beginning of August. The results are impressive: With great gratitude, we were able to donate the impressive sum of EUR 53,990 to our partner Heliotropio, a Greek non-governmental organisation focusing on nature conservation and environmental education. Every private donation we received was doubled by DER Touristik. In addition, DER Touristik donated a further EUR 50,000 for the relief and reconstruction measures on the island, said Ingo Burmester, CEO Central Europe of DER Touristik Group.
