Cologne,<\/span> 2<\/span>9<\/span>. September <\/span><\/strong><\/span>The REWE Group is supporting the 27th edition of the Generali Cologne Marathon on October 5, 2025. Around 36,000 participants can expect a wide range of fresh food in the REWE Group catering village and at the REWE catering points along the route. On the last, particularly challenging kilometers, the REWE Group Hammer Mile with REWE and toom Baumarkt DIY store<\/q> at Hansaring \/ Ritterstra\u00dfe will keep the runners motivated. <\/span><\/p>\n

For many participants, the Generali Cologne Marathon is more than just a sporting competition – it’s an experience. The route passes through central locations in the city that showcase Cologne’s diversity and character. And it is accompanied by people who create a special atmosphere with their exuberant mood. Last year, I took part as a relay runner and experienced the enthusiasm of the spectators along the route at first hand – it was a great experience,<\/q> says REWE Group Management Board member Lionel Souque. As a company firmly rooted in Cologne, we are proud to have been part of this special event for 24 years. I am particularly pleased that more than 600 of our colleagues are starting together: As the largest registered group, they are running for a good cause. I am keeping my fingers crossed for all the runners in the Cologne Marathon – may their race not only be a sporting success, but also personally enriching.<\/q><\/p>\n

REWE Group employees who are taking part in the Generali Cologne Marathon are preparing specifically for their big day with a company training program. The mas institute from Cologne is supporting them. The runners receive individual performance diagnostics such as field level tests and training plans tailored to them. Depending on their fitness level, they train in small, guided running groups. In addition, running events offer the opportunity to get tips and inspiration from experienced long-distance runners. In total, more than 600 REWE Group runners are registered for marathons, half marathons and relays. REWE Group will donate one euro to HistiocytosisHilfe e.V. for every kilometer run.<\/span><\/p>\n

The REWE Group has been an integral part of the Cologne Marathon for a quarter of a century – and you can feel it every year. It is particularly impressive that this year over 600 employees are taking part in the race themselves. No other company has so many on the course. This combination of sponsorship, sustainability and genuine team spirit makes our partnership unique. And with the REWE Group catering village, we have jointly created a culinary tradition that enjoys cult status in the running scene,<\/q> says Markus Frisch, Managing Director of K\u00f6lner AusdauerSport GmbH.<\/span><\/p>\n

The REWE delivery service supports the event with seven vehicles on and along the course and transports the marathon runners’ own food on the day of the event. The REWE Group is also supporting the PUMA Shake Out Run at Aachener Weiher on Saturday, October 4, 2025, with goods. <\/span><\/p>\n

For the Generali Cologne Marathon 2025, REWE Group is providing the following products together with sports-enthusiastic partners: <\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 50.000 bananas from Chiquita (Rainforest Alliance\/PRO PLANET-certified),
\n\u2013 30.000 granola bars from PENNY\u2019s own brand Granola (Rainforest Alliance-certified),
\n\u2013 6.400 liters of REWE organic apple juice,
\n\u2013 8.000 regional apples from the Krings company in Rheinbach (PRO PLANET-certified),
\n\u2013 2.500 regional pears from the Krings company in Rheinbach (PRO PLANET-certified),
\n\u2013 2.000 mini-cherry tomatoes from Germany from the Landgard company in Meckenheim,
\n\u2013 600 regional mini cucumbers from the Landgard company in Meckenheim,
\n\u2013 63 kg REWE organic almonds,
\n\u2013 125 kg REWE organic cashews,
\n\u2013 72 kg wholemeal rye bread from REWE store brands ja!,
\n\u2013 40 kg REWE organic cream cheese,
\n\u2013 200 kg meat sausages.<\/p>\n

As in previous years, the surplus food from the running event will be donated to the K\u00f6lner Tafel.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
