With the approval of the annual financial statements, REWE Group also published its online Annual Report 2024 entitled ” A Clear course – strong future “.

Cologne. After ten years as Chairperson of the Supervisory Board, Erich Stockhausen is handing over REWE Group in excellent health to his colleague and close associate Stefan Lenk. The work has grown so very close to my heart. I have put in many, many years of effort for REWE, for the retailers, for the employees and for the employee representatives. My credo has always been to grow REWE in such a way that the next generation has a firm footing to take things further. Everything is in good hands, and that puts a smile on my face. We are well positioned and on the right path, said Stockhausen.

His successor, Stefan Lenk (63), opened his first store as a REWE retailer in 1983. Today, he runs the family business with his wife Claudia and their three sons. They have nine stores, total revenue of more than 100 million euros and over 500 employees. His parents founded the company in 1963 in Bochum with 40 square meters of space. Lenk has been a member of the Supervisory Board of REWE Dortmund since 2014 and its Chairperson since 2016. He has also been a member of the Supervisory Board of the REWE Group since 2016 and Chairperson of the Audit Committee since 2018. Sincere thanks go to Erich Stockhausen for his dedication, courage and forward thinking as Chairperson of the Supervisory Board. I have had the honour of working closely with him these past eight years and am confident that the path he has chosen remains the right one, said the new Chairperson of the Supervisory Board, Stefan Lenk. We will continue to drive the company forward as a strong community with the proven Management Board team and the employees of the REWE Group. The Annual General Meeting also bid farewell to Deputy Chairperson of the Supervisory Board Helmut Göttmann, long-standing Chairperson of the General Works Council of REWE and PENNY and member of the Group’s supervisory bodies since 2016. He was succeeded as Deputy Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of REWE ZENTRALFINANZ eG by Franziska Blumenthal, the current Chairperson of the General Works Council.

Clear course – strong future: The REWE Group is a strong and reliable driver of economic growth

CEO of REWE Group Lionel Souque emphasised the encouraging annual report in difficult times: In light of the uncertainty pervasive throughout the EU, subdued consumer sentiment, and the downward trend in the economy, the 2024 financial year was anything but a sure-fire success. Despite it all, we can still say that 2024 was a very good year for us. Given that every business segment contributed to the positive development, this success is down to the dedicated work of all our colleagues. With its focus firmly on the future, the REWE Group will invest 16 billion euros between 2024 and 2028. While other sectors of the economy are cutting back on investments or even pulling out of locations, we are strengthening business in Germany and Europe with our comparatively high investments. We help to create value domestically and remain a strong, reliable driver of economic growth even in difficult times, said REWE Group CEO Lionel Souque.

The REWE Group continued on its growth trajectory in the past financial year and posted record figures. The Cologne-based cooperative trade and tourism company saw its total external revenue grow to 96.1 billion euros. Revenue from continuing operations for the REWE Combine – excluding independent retail and companies recognised at equity – increased by 4.6 per cent last year, from 84.0 to 87.9 billion euros. The DERTOUR Group also posted a very strong year, with invoiced revenue up 21.7% to 8.7 billion.
