REWE digital and REWE Systems are two organizations with a common goal: to always ensure the perfect shopping experience now and in the future. REWE digital was founded to advance the Group\u2019s e-commerce activities. REWE Systems is responsible for its brick-and-mortar business. We have seen customers\u2019 shopping behaviour change in recent years, which has had a significant impact on retail. At the same time, we are well positioned and have enormous potential, both in terms of technology and in terms of innovation. The new unit will allow us to move forward and take our digital and technology efforts to the next level thanks to closer collaboration and better utilization of synergies,<\/q> says Christoph Eltze.<\/p>\n

Our joint goal is to further develop retail IT within the company. This will require not only new technologies and innovations, but also building on our success with respect to solutions for our day-to-day operations, for employees in the markets and in logistics, as well as in collaboration with technology partners and start-ups. Our employees will play a key role in this regard, and we are actively investing in them. We are helping them to develop their expertise \u2013 expertise that we need. And by taking this step, we will additionally be able to offer them new development opportunities. It also underscores our leading technological position in the food retail sector over the long term,<\/q> adds Thomas Friedl, member of the Executive Board of REWE digital.<\/p>\n

For the employees of the new REWE digital unit, the close collaboration has been a reality for the past few months. Whether it\u2019s in Cologne, Berlin, Ilmenau, Kiel, Sofia, Varna, Graz, M\u00e1laga, or the regional locations in Germany, a diverse and large number of collaboration workstreams are now active. In addition, a number of technology teams have already strengthened and optimized their collaboration where doing so is feasible and makes sense.<\/p>\n

As part of the restructuring, REWE digital will receive a new corporate identity that represents the two previous units and the people associated with them. The new look will involve not only new branding, but also shared processes and procedures, cultural values, and goals, which we will continue to develop in the coming months.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
