With purely plant-based and regional ingredients, the organic oat yoghurt sets new standards. While other products in the industry use coconut oil, Ja! Natürlich proves that it can be made without it – with Austrian organic oats and without compromising on consistency, quality or taste.

With the new Ja! Natürlich organic oat yoghurt, we are taking the next step in the development of plant-based organic products. Our aim was to create a purely plant-based yogurt that does not require exotic vegetable oils such as coconut oil and meets the highest organic standards. The result is a product that not only tastes good, but also impresses in terms of Sustainability, explains Klaudia Atzmüller, managing director of Ja! Natürlich.

The oats used come from controlled organic cultivation in Austria. Instead of organic coconut oil, organic sunflower oil and organic sunflower protein from Austria are used. The regional origin ensures short transportation routes and an improved carbon footprint.

An ingredient containing oil or fat ensures a creamy mouthfeel and the right consistency in oat yoghurt. Organic coconut oil has the added advantage that it is even firmer when taken fresh from the fridge, which helps to create a creamy consistency. It is therefore difficult to substitute. It took us two years of development work to come up with a convincing product, says Klaudia Atzmüller.

Ja! Natürlich has been the organic pioneer in Austria for more than three decades and is Austria’s largest organic brand, with a product range of over 1,100 products. The REWE Group’s own brand stands for products from organic farming, high quality, the best taste, complete transparency and doing business in harmony with nature. Ja! Natürlich means enjoyment with responsibility towards people, animals, the environment and organic farmers. This is why the organic brand also makes a significant contribution to their promotion: it guarantees organic farmers a secure purchase and rewards the extra effort involved in organic farming with the highest organic surcharges in the country. Under the motto “Organic in abundance”, Ja! Natürlich has been focusing on green packaging for several years, setting new standards in terms of environmentally friendly packaging.

REWE and PENNY – Simply good

REWE and PENNY also focus on the shortest possible delivery routes and a short list of ingredients for their plant-based yogurt alternatives. The soy for REWE Bio Sojagurt and REWE Beste Wahl Sojagurt comes exclusively from the EU. The supplier countries are Germany, Austria, France and, for REWE Beste Wahl Sojagurt, partly Italy.

PENNY’s Food for Future yogurts also only contain soy from the EU. In addition, the recipe for the Food for Future organic oat drink is currently being revised. Four ingredients are enough to make a delicious oat drink: Water, oat sunflower oil and sea salt. And here too, the oats come exclusively from the EU.
