Five REWE Group business areas were certified according to the berufundfamilie (job and family) audit in Berlin on June 17. Some of the companies, institutions and universities also received the extended certificate with the addition of +diversity. The addition of +diversity, awarded for the first time, honors employers’ efforts to take into account and strengthen the different backgrounds and needs of their employees. The 18 organizations certified this year, including REWE Group Zentrale Handel D and the REWE regions West and Dortmund Frischelogistik, address topics such as work-life balance and diversity and anchor them in their corporate strategy. In this way, they are creating a working environment that promotes both work-life balance and non-discriminatory cooperation: What family-, life-phase- and diversity-conscious measures do we already have in place and what offerings have been introduced? In addition, focus topics were defined for the new audit aspect +diversity.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Review<\/h2>\n

Measures that have already borne fruit in recent years include offers in the areas of working hours and location, such as mobile working. The Step up corporate culture initiative focuses on the aspect of diversity in management and employee development, among other things. The annual events such as Compatibility Week and Diversity Month have also met with a great response.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Outlook<\/h2>\n

As part of the berufundfamilie (job and\u00a0 family) + diversity audit, the focus over the next three years will be on intensifying and communicating existing initiatives. An important approach here is to take into account the life phases of all employees and create suitable offers. At the same time, this is to be combined with flexible work organization models.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Why is communication important?<\/h2>\n

Strong communication is crucial for the sustainable anchoring of compatibility and diversity in the corporate culture. In addition, effective implementation and use of specific measures is only possible if employees are aware of them. In other words, the most useful offer will only help employees to improve their work-life balance and diversity if they are aware of it.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Why is diversity now part of the job and family audit?<\/h2>\n

REWE Group has taken the opportunity to be audited for the first time with “+ Diversity” to show that diversity is a driving force in our organization: Diversity is a driving force for our organization. We are thus supporting the approach of compatibility with equal opportunities and taking our social responsibility for a tolerant world into account.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

What measures are planned in the area of diversity?<\/h2>\n

The planned focus areas include gender and gender identity, generations and physical and mental abilities. We already support diversity in leadership through a development program such as “Women’s Drive”. In terms of generational competence, we are focusing on models such as reverse mentoring, for example, in which the strengths and experiences of different generations are incorporated. We are also examining new approaches, such as the possibility of making the application process more inclusive, including with regard to neurodiversity.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
