The motto of the Experience Farm is to show that there is no contradiction between supplying the German population with high-quality food and protecting nature. Modern farming already achieves both. The Experience Farm offered exciting insights into agriculture in Germany. Together with our more than 35 partners from the agricultural industry, we demonstrated how German agriculture manages to ensure a supply of high-quality, affordable food while at the same time promoting animal welfare, reducing the carbon footprint, and protecting the natural environment.

German agriculture is open to change, and is currently undergoing a major transformation towards modern and sustainable agriculture. The aim is to secure food for us all and to protect the environment. The entire industry is facing a balancing act between innovation, bureaucracy, climate change, and animal welfare. This process creates significant cost pressures. Planning certainty is crucial. It allows companies to make long-term investments and implement sustainable practices. However, uncertainties such as extreme weather conditions or political decisions make long-term planning difficult. We also see a strong desire for dialogue between consumers, industry and policymakers, which we were able to address at Grüne Woche 2024 through the Experience Farm as a platform for dialogue.

The recent demonstrations by our farmers highlight the current need for dialogue between the agricultural industry, politics, and society. There are undoubtedly major topics at hand, such as animal husbandry, climate protection, and innovation. At the same time, we also notice that consumers have basic questions and seek answers such as: how can I recognize products from Germany, and what do the labels on the packaging mean? As the Forum for Modern Agriculture, we aim to showcase the different perspectives of the agricultural industry along the value chain and bridge the gap between modern agriculture and society. We have a vast network spanning all sectors of agriculture: farmers, associations, large-scale farms, organizations, and even the food retail sector. Our drive is to promote acceptance, appreciation, and economic viability for agriculture, ensuring the future of supplying essential goods through sustainable production in Germany.
