Today (28 June), the REWE Group published its 2020 online annual report entitled “Eventful times – Decisive action”.
In his foreword to the Annual Report 2020, CEO of REWE Group Lionel Souque wrote: “Like everywhere, the year of 2020 at REWE Group was overshadowed by the corona pandemic. It was perhaps the most trying year we have endured since the end of World War II in terms of the planning and management of our national and international activities. For this reason, we have let our employees have the first word in our annual report – from all areas of our company both inside and outside Germany. They provide a detailed description of the challenges they faced during this very different time and the ways that they overcame them. In particular, the description by our REWE retailer Heinz Schmitz from Gangelt, where the pandemic began in Germany, vividly explains how confidence and courage, solidarity and decisive action can be applied to jointly weather this crisis.”
Despite the historic challenges, the REWE Group can look back on 2020 as a successful business year. Thanks to the successful integration of the Lekkerland Group, the REWE Group’s total external turnover reached a record level of over 75 billion euros last year.
The 2020 online annual report comprises a multimedia magazine section with videos, animations and graphics, a company section in which the REWE Group’s key figures are presented, and a separate section featuring the REWE Group’s management report and financial statements.
