Effective 1 October 2017, Dr Jean-Jacques van Oosten will resign from REWE Group for personal reasons. The new head of REWE Digital GmbH will be Christoph Eltze, who has been working at REWE Group since May 2014 as a member of the Executive Board of REWE Digital GmbH and Digital Operations Director.
Lionel Souque, the CEO of REWE Group, said of the change: “I would like to express my deep gratitude to JJ van Oosten for his commitment and the hard work he did while successfully developing e-commerce and digitalisation activities at the many different business segments of REWE Group. We certainly respect his personal reasons for resigning from REWE Group and wish him nothing but the best in his future professional and private endeavours.”
JJ van Oosten joined REWE Group in December 2013 after working at a range of other companies, including Unilever, Kingfisher, Tesco and Travis Perkins.
“With Christoph Eltze as the new head of REWE Digital, we have ensured seamless continuity in the development of our e-commerce and digitalization activities,” Souque said. “Christoph Eltze will be supported by the other members of the Executive Board – Andreas Conrad, Dr Johannes Steegmann and Dr Robert Zores. “We will also systematically continue to apply the strategy of REWE Digital GmbH that JJ van Oosten introduced and successfully carried out. Christoph Eltze will report to Jan Kunath, the member of REWE Group’s Management Board who oversees digital operations. This will ensure that we have the drive we need to move ahead with our digitalisation work.”
Christoph Eltze has been a member of the Executive Board of REWE Digital GmbH since May 2014. He previously worked as a consultant for the McKinsey consulting firm (partner). During his 15 years there, he focused primarily on the area of food for national and international trade companies.
