Volker Hornsteiner, who has been a member of the Management Board of BILLA since 2001, will be moving up to the Management Board of REWE International AG at the beginning of 2016. He will, however, continue to be the Management Board spokesman of BILLA AG. On the Management Board of the holding company, he will take over the area of Expansion from Reinhard Schürk, who will be retiring in early 2017 and is currently responsible for the areas of controlling, strategic planning, logistics, mergers & acquisitions, expansion, the technical department in Austria and tourism.
Volker Hornsteiner (48) embarked on his career as a trainee at BILLA after completing his studies in business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration in 1995, and has worked his way up through all career phases in the company. He has been responsible for the areas of sales, HR development and expansion on the BILLA Management Board for the past 14 years. On the Management Board of REWE International AG, Hornsteiner will also be responsible for the area of expansion as well as the two trading companies BILLA and ADEG. Frank Hensel, the CEO of REWE International AG, will remain the chairman of the Supervisory Boards of BILLA AG and ADEG AG.
Due to the changes on the Management Board of the holding company, the management of BILLA is also undergoing restructuring. In addition to Management Board spokesman Volker Hornsteiner and his long-standing Management Board colleague Josef Siess, Robert Nagele – currently the company’s Sales director – will also be joining the BILLA Management Board in January 2016. There are no changes to the portfolios of the other members of the Management Board of REWE International AG: Franz Nebel (finance, accounting, IT, legal, property management) and Janusz Kulik, who manages the full range business in Central and Eastern Europe.
