REWE Group has set itself further goals in terms of agricultural primary production.

The company has thus commissioned an evaluation according to “GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice”, abbreviated to GRASP. GRASP is a voluntary module for agricultural farms which are already GLOBALG.A.P.-certified and complements the standard for controlled agriculture with regard to social concerns. It is based on 13 control points, which meet the core labour standards of the ILO. These are reviewed in an annual individual or group evaluation through a recognised certification body, usually in collaboration with the GLOBALG.A.P.

By the end of 2013, all fruit and vegetable store brand suppliers for REWE Group and by 2014, all other fruit and vegetable suppliers will be evaluated according to GRASP or a comparable standard. Since June 2010, REWE International AG has already been requiring its PRO PLANET suppliers of fruit, vegetables and eggs to evaluate their businesses according to the social considerations listed in the GRASP principles.
