Germany rounds up
As a partner since the very beginning, toom Baumarkt and PENNY have been supporting the non-profit organisation “Deutschland rundet auf” since the start of 2012.
In all toom Baumarkt DIY stores and PENNY Markt supermarkets, customers can participate in the fundraising campaign when shopping by rounding up the final amount at the checkout to a maximum of ten cents. Therefore, a purchase amount of EUR 12.76 will become EUR 12.80 for example, making a donation amount of four cents.
Every cent donated by customers is used to help carefully selected and independently quality-assured projects in Germany. In the first year of the initiative alone, we collected over a million euros. Four projects have already been funded. Currently, donations are being used in a project for the expansion of the home visit programme for parent education and early childhood support for socially disadvantaged parents (PAT – Parents as Teachers). The objective of PAT – Learning with Parents – is to strengthen the family learning centre to give children a good start in life.
