Energy and environmental policy

Energy, Climate and the Environment

For the three key areas of "increasing energy efficiency", "reducing emissions associated with climate change" and "conserving resources", the REWE Group has taken measures related to the retail outlets, to storage, to management and to production. Our prime environmental objective is to halve greenhouse gas emissions from 2006 until no later than 2022.

Saving energy.

We are at the forefront of energy efficiency. Did you know that the first carbon-neutral REWE retail stores already exist? Our logistics too are always on the look-out for ways to save energy.

Full speed ahead thanks to alternative energy sources.

The share of renewable sources in our electricity energy mix is already at 100 per cent. Our aim is to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% between 2006 and 2022, for example by switching to green electricity.

Less waste. More recycling.

The REWE Group places great value in reducing and recycling waste. This is why we have switched completely from fresh-fibre paper to environmentally friendly recycled paper. Our overall recycling rate for waste is 93%.
