Vocational training: Tourism Management Assistant for private and business trips

The structure of the vocational training at DER Touristik is divided into three optional qualifications:

1. Optional qualification in Travel Planning

Tourism management personnel in Travel Planning plan, organise and calculate package holidays, personal trips, tours as well as group and special trips. They negotiate with airlines, hotels and other service providers regarding prices and conditions. They handle payment and invoice processes, have an input in marketing and catalogue production and coordinate the cooperation between the Travel Planning personnel and travel agents.

You can start this vocational training at the DER Touristik headquarters in Cologne and Frankfurt am Main.

This is what you should bring with you:
  • A-levels or a Technical Baccalaureate
  • A developed interest in business and geography
  • Proficiency in English and possibly Spanish
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and an interest in computer reservation systems
  • Initial experience acquired through internships or part-time jobs (in sales and/or services)
  • Time spent abroad visiting a language school if appropriate
  • An outgoing personality as well as good manners
  • Flexibility, the ability to work in a team and resilience to stress
2. Optional qualification in Travel Arrangement

Tourism management personnel at REWE Group with the optional qualification Travel Arrangement work in the travel agency selling the products and services of various service providers, such as tour organisers, airlines, car hire companies, train companies, ferry companies and travel insurers. They advise and inform customers about travel connections and tariffs, convey and calculate prices, handle payment and invoicing processes, contribute to customer loyalty strategies and provide information about holiday destinations and their conditions of entry.

This is what you should bring with you:
  • A good qualification from a commercial college or a commercial vocational school, A-levels or a Technical Baccalaureate
  • A developed interest in geography
  • Proficiency in German, good English skills
  • An outgoing personality and good manners
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Initial experience acquired through internships
  • Willingness to perform and work in a team
3. Optional qualification in Business Travel

Tourism management personnel at REWE Group with the optional qualification Business Travel are usually responsible for corporate customers regarding their business travel needs. In this department, the products and services of various service providers are sold. This is primarily from airlines and train companies, car hire companies and hotels. It is a world of tariffs, data and facts, organisation and processing - particularly using digital interfaces. You will be the point of contact for company representatives and must process their orders quickly and reliably. As a result, working quickly and providing up-to-date information are important for service and customer satisfaction. For that you will have a whole range of modern computer and communications technology at your disposal.

  • Interest in other countries and cultures
  • Proficiency in German
  • Proficiency in English
  • Good computer skills as well as a developed interest in computer reservation systems
  • Good communication and verbal skills
  • Flexibility and resilience to stress
  • Willingness to perform and work in a team
As a Tourism Management Assistant in all three optional qualifications you will make a difference at REWE Group by:
