Tips for freshness

Our top 10 tips for freshness

Here are some tips for transporting and storing foods so that our products will retain their quality and remain fresh for as long as possible.
1. When buying fresh food, take it home and place in the refrigerator immediately, especially on hot summer days.
2. Always pack frozen produce in a cooler bag for transporting home.
3. When stored in the refrigerator, products should generally be packaged well or placed in a sealed plastic box or a bowl covered in cling film, for example.
4. Most kinds of fruit and vegetables keep well in the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator (note: remove the leaves from carrots and radishes).
5. Store beverages, sauces, eggs and butter in the refrigerator door.
6. Store perishable goods such as fish, meat and cold cuts in the coldest section of the refrigerator; usually the area above the vegetable cooler.
7. Dairy products and opened foods should be kept in the middle section.
8. Cheese, ready meals or smoked foods belong in the top section.
9. Important: clean your refrigerator regularly to prevent bacteria growth.
10. When storing products outside of the refrigerator, store in a tightly sealed container in a dry, dark place.
