For the manufacture of our private label products, we only select certified suppliers that are able to provide satisfactory evidence of their compliance with stringent food safety and hygiene standards. We also verify this for ourselves, through systematic plant inspections for example. Internationally recognised standards, such as the International Featured Standard (IFS) Food or Global Food Standard of the British Retail Consortium (BRC), apply to all of our suppliers.
The production facilities for our private label brands also have to meet equally high standards: Brandenburg and Glockenbrot have been IFS certified since 2004 and 2005 respectively, and are audited at regular intervals. Moreover, all of the results of the incoming goods inspections are recorded, documented and evaluated appropriately. All of this ultimately plays a role in the assessment of our suppliers. Important factors include compliance with delivery times and required storage temperatures and other REWE Group requirements specific to the product groups. Particularly when using new suppliers, REWE Group supports the external standards by conducting its own audits.
