Over the course of the year, money is collected during many different activities carried out on the initiative of the employees, e.g. bake and book sales, Christmas drawings or box office receipts from sports tournaments. Initially, the beneficiaries of the support changed from one time to the next.
Seeking to maximise the aid from the donations, the “Gute Tat” has been supporting specifically the Frankfurt Child Protection Federation (Kinderschutzbund) since 2006. The organisation gives mistreated or sexually abused children and young people the opportunity to work through their experiences with the aid of therapists in one-on-one therapies. The long-term partnership with the Child Protection Federation aims to provide sustained help for this desperately necessary project. In 2009, the social commitment was expanded by the addition of another aid project abroad: the Calvary Zion Children’s Home, an orphanage located near Mombasa, Kenya, accepts children who have lost their parents to AIDS or who have been abandoned. The Calvary Zion Children’s home in Kiembeni has been in operation since 1999 and is currently home to 44 children. The donations are being used to support the construction of a new building to house the orphans and for other purposes.
