The Good Deed

Social involvement and taking on social responsibility are an integral part of REWE Group's corporate philosophy. This is why the "The Good Deed" scheme was set up in 2000. Since then employees of Deutsches Reisebüro GmbH group in Frankfurt are putting this idea into practice.

"The Good Deed“ abroad: Calvaray Zion Children's Home – a new relief project of "The Good Deed” abroad. Orphanage in Kenia, Mombasa / Kiembeni

Throughout the year employees receive company support for their individual actions to collect money. These funds are then used to support different projects.

To channel the aid provided by this money the "Good Deed" has been supporting the Frankfurt-based child protection agency since 2006. Amongst other things, this organisation provides mistreated or sexually exploited children the opportunity of receiving treatment from therapists to face up to and come to terms with their experiences. This long-term partnership with the child protection agency is designed to provide sustainable support for this urgently needed project. In 2009 the social involvement was extended to include another relief project abroad: the orphanage Calvary Zion Children’s Home near Mombasa, Kenia takes in children who have lost their parents due to Aids or were abandoned by them The Calvary Zion Children’s Home in Kiembeni opened its doors in 1999 and is currently home to 38 children. Among other things, the funds provided are used to build a new building for the allocation of the orphans.
