Klasse in Sport

The association "Klasse in Sport" encourages children and teenagers to get exercise. Thanks to the support of the REWE Group, it has been operating since 2008 all over Germany.

An increasing number of pupils aren’t getting enough exercise. The association “Klasse in Sport – Initiative for Daily Sport Lessons” will offer relief. The idea is to facilitate one hour of school or recess sports a day in order to educate children and teenagers about enjoying exercise. Those who feel physically good are also more motivated to learn.

The company is taking action to promote the education and further training of the required professionals and training personnel while equipping the schools with educational material as well as playground and sport articles. The German Sports University in Cologne will be accompanying the project from a scientific perspective. Several sponsors support the initiative such as Heiner Brand, the coach of the German National Handball Team, and Ulrike Nasse-Meyfarth, two-time Olympic medallist in the high jump. Initially only active in Rhineland, the association has become active nationwide thanks to the financial support of the REWE Group since 2008. The REWE Group has currently assumed the patronage of 21 of the 42 supported schools.
