“We Are Acting for Tomorrow”: This is the title of the REWE Group’s second sustainability report (2009/2010), published in September 2011. In this report, the trade and tourism company describes its commitment to products and services, to the protection of climate and the environment and to its employees and society. The company provides details about areas of action, objectives and progress. The REWE Group sustainability report complies with the highest requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and was rated “A+”.
The German Sustainability Code (DNK)
The German Sustainability Code (DNK) was adopted by the Council for Sustainable Development in 2011. It publishes the sustainability results of companies on a database, thus improving the companies' liability, transparency and comparability of entrepreneurial commitments. REWE Group was one of the first companies to join the initiative and submitted the DNK’s declaration of conformity. The Global Reporting Initiative thus published the following results: “The information and data correspond to the sustainability report 2009/2010 of REWE Group, which meets the highest application level "A+" and therefore fulfils the requirements of the Code. The prerequisite for certification from an independent third party is audited through an external assessment by the GRI, as required to reach the “A+” level, and through an independent business audit by PwC”.
