
Organic and natural food products have a long tradition at REWE. As early as 1988, the firm began offering products from managed organic agriculture under the private "Füllhorn" label. At the beginning of 2008, this well-known eco-label was replaced by the "REWE Bio" brand. This product range, sold at all REWE supermarkets, currently comprises 200 organic products mainly from local production.
Customers can also find natural fish and other seafood from organic aquaculture at the fish counter in toom hypermarkets. PENNY offers currently 40 organic products under the private label "Naturgut”. Since August of 2004, PENNY also has its own private-label "Babytime" with baby food products from organic production.
The Frankfurt-based backery Glockenbäckerei pertaining to REWE Group, which supplies REWE and PENNY stores as well as company-owned backeries and backery shops, launched its own organic product brand under the label "Mühlhof" in 2005. Meanwhile the product range comprises 16 articles.
