Store Inspections

REWE Group regularly conducts store inspections in its supermarkets to ensure that the workplaces are healthy and safe. The Group does not comply only "formally" with statutory requirements, but instead, with the help of the inspections, makes a long-term contribution to improvement of workplaces and work processes.

As part of the REWE Quality Management System (RQMS), various checklists were used already in the past at the market locations to fulfil legal requirements for food quality and hygiene and to evaluate the quality features for the customers. During the course of the introduction of new technologies to increase efficiency and raise the level of transparency, the checklist recording for occupational safety has been changed over to a computer-aided basis. The results are evaluated and specific measures derived through an internal information portal for the responsible employees at REWE.

The objective of the checklist recording using electronic data processing equipment (PDA) is the development of a standardised, sustainable system which records and evaluates major hazards, eliminates dangers related to work and supports measures to promote good health.
