Robbery Prevention Programme

In general, a supermarket robbery only takes a few minutes. With a prevention programme, the REWE Group supports employees quickly and comprehensively.

To better protect employees in stores from robberies and their consequences, the REWE Group developed an education and prevention programme in partnership with the professional association Handel und Warendistribution (BGHW) (Commerce and Foods Distribution) and an external service provider. The recommended steps include organisational and structural changes among other things. Furthermore, specially trained external service providers offer de-escalation training sessions for multipliers and employees. They train participants in how to correctly react to a robbery. The number one priority is to protect one’s person and health. Another component of the programme involves professional follow-up care.

The REWE Group offers affected employees psychological follow-up care in partnership with specialists and in close coordination with the BGHW.
