German Sustainability Award 2009

REWE Group is among the TOP 3 award-winners of the German Sustainability Award 2009. According to the opinion of the Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. (German Sustainability Award Foundation), REWE Group has one of the "most sustainable future strategies" of all companies in Germany. With its commitment to sustainability REWE Group is one of the driving powers in this country and a pioneer in the industry.

REWE Group implements its comprehensive sustainability strategy based on the pillars of "Green Products", "Energy, Climate and the Environment", "Employees" and "Social Commitment". The "Best Alliance Strategy", in the framework of which REWE Group concludes contracts directly with farmers, was considered by the jury as exemplary. The German Sustainability Award is presented to companies that combine economic success with social responsibility and the protection of the environment in an exemplary way. Patron is Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel.

REWE Group has set itself very early the objective to bring into line economic, ecologic, social and cultural aspects with one another. For many years, REWE Group has been committed to different areas of sustainable development and has won several awards already.
