Future Rewe leadership decided upon by Supervisory Board

Dr. Ernst Dieter Berninghaus (38), member of the Rewe Executive Board, will be appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Rewe Zentral AG (RZAG) an Rewe Zentral Finanz eG (RZF) following the retirement (12/31/04) of Hans Reischl (64), who has been the CEO of Rewe for 27 years. The Supervisory Board of RZAG and RZF took this decision unanimously at its meeting on Tuesday, 17 February 2004.
Dr. Berninghaus has been a corporate executive at Rewe since 1999, and has belonged to the Executive Board since 2001. He has a PhD in business administration and is responsible for the international activities of Rewe.
The Supervisory Board appointed Josef Sanktjohanser (53) to the Executive Board from 01 March 2004. Mr. Sanktjohanser, who has worked for Rewe since 1986 and has held numerous leadership positions, is to oversee the wholesale business. Presently, he heads the operational region “West” as well as the wholesale business in the operational regions “South”/”Southwest” in Germany.
With these decisions, the Supervisory Board and Rewe co-operative members ensure the internal continuity of leadership at Rewe and pave the way for Rewe’s continued successful development as one of the leading retail and tourism Groups in Europe.
