Supervisory Board of the Cologne-based REWE Group seals deal for closer cooperation with REWE Dortmund - Milestone in REWE's history


The Supervisory Board of the Cologne-based REWE Group has announced that it has unanimously affirmed agreements for closer co-operation between REWE's Head Office and REWE Dortmund Großhandels eG at its meeting today (October 12). This marks a milestone in the nearly 80-year-long history of REWE for positively continuing to develop the overall group. By entering into this agreement, REWE Dortmund is demonstrating its long-term commitment to the Cologne-based company. REWE Group as a whole is now bolstering its position as it confronts intensified competition on the German market.

Nothing more now stands in the way of rebranding around 240 stores belonging to the Dortmund-based co-operative under the newly designed logo of the REWE Group supermarkets. The governing bodies of the co-operatives are also confirming the participation of the REWE Head Offices in R EWE Dortmund as a silent partner. After the Dortmund stores are rebranded, around 3000 supermarkets will bear the nationally uniform REWE logo.

REWE Dortmund achieved turnover from retailing activities of around 2.7 billion euros last year. With a turnover of around 42 billion euros and 260,000 employees, REWE Group is among the leading food trading companies in Europe.
