Competence for Drugstore Articles Unit Added to Strategic Purchasing of REWE Group

Gerlinde Sulzmaier assumes direction of the business unit Food 3 on 1 January 2011


Cologne-based REWE Group is expanding its Strategic Procurement divison (SEK) in the area of drugstore articles. As of 1 January 2011, Gerlinde Sulzmaier (51) will assume direction of the newly created business unit Food 3 and simultaneously responsibility for the procurement of merchandise such as cosmetics, detergents and cleaning agents. After beginning her professional career at McDonald’s Germany, Sulzmaier held management positions at dm - Drogerie Markt from 1987 to 2010, most recently as managing director for the division Marketing and Procurement.

“We are delighted that Gerlinde Sulzmaier is joining us and will specifically be an added strength for purchasing activities in the merchandise group Drugstore Articles,” declared REWE Group Management Board member Manfred Esser, in charge of SEK. “We know that we have substantial potential for development in this merchandise group. Thanks to her great competence and experience in the areas of brand and private label products, Ms Sulzmaier will be able to contribute to a significant upgrading and further development of our product line for drugstore articles.”

In her new position at the Cologne-based trading and travel and tourism group, Gerlinde Sulzmaier will report directly to REWE Group Management Board member Manfred Esser.

The travel and tourism division comprises the tour operators ITS, JAHN REISEN and TJAEREBORG as well as Dertour, Meier’s Weltreisen and ADAC Reisen, and about 2,500 travel agencies.
