REWE Group to Support Investigations by the Public Prosecutors' Office
Cologne, 07.11.06
"Exhaustively determining the facts involved is not only important to our senior management, it is also in the best interest of our company's employees", said Alain Caparros, Spokesman of the REWE Group Management Board.
After conducting its own internal investigations on past business transactions, REWE Group contacted the Cologne Public Prosecutors' Office around two months ago. The company will support the preliminary investigations now launched by the authorities with all means at its disposal. The main aim of REWE Group is solely and singularly to determine the facts in the matter as quickly as possible. "The REWE Group Management Board wants light shed on all the facts of the incident in question. This is not only important to our senior management, but also in the best interest of our company's employees", said Alain Caparros, Spokesman of the REWE Group Management Board.
The Spokesman welcomed the quick actions of the Public Prosecutors' Office. Mr. Caparros also emphasised that the matter as yet only concerned a suspicion of a criminal incident. The REWE Group senior management was and remains thus of the opinion that the matter must be further explored. It is now important for REWE Group to await the results of the investigations. It is understandable that the firm cannot be expected to comment any further at this time on the details, occurrences, or persons involved in the matter.
