Takeover is subject to approval by the cartel authorities
REWE Group plans to take over 65 branch stores of the Kaiser's Tengelmann GmbH in the Rhein-Main-Neckar region. The takeover is subject to approval by the cartel authorities. It was mutually agreed to keep the transaction price confidential.
With the intended takeover, REWE Group continues its successful performance in the German supermarket business. "The Rhein-Main-Neckar region is of great importance for our company. The Tengelmann branches complement the location portfolio of our REWE stores very well. The acquisition will allow us to further strengthen our ability to offer a thorough neighbourhood service coverage, said Alain Caparros, CEO of REWE Group.
With a turnover of almost 13 billion euros, the more than 3,300 REWE supermarkets and branch stores run by our independent retailers make an important contribution to the overall success of REWE Group. With its 350,000 employees and a turnover of 50 billion euros, REWE Group is one of the leading European trading and travel and tourism companies.
