REWE Group: 'Preferred Partner' DBA Joins the LTU Owners

"In DBA and its main shareholder Hans Rudolf Wöhrl, REWE Group has found its preferred partner to join LTU and continue developing this holiday airline." Thus were the words chosen by REWE Group CEO Dr. Achim Egner to welcome the acquisition of the 60-per-cent majority stake in LTU Lufttransport-Unternehmen GmbH by Intro GmbH (Hans Rudolf Wöhrl). The Cologne-based trading and tourism group has held a 40-per-cent share of the Düsseldorf-based LTU since 2001. "There were repeated offers from financial investors – especially from abroad – who wanted to participate in LTU. But it was our desire to have a strategic partner at our side. Hans Rudolf Wöhrl has proven his entrepreneurial expertise also in the hard-fought airline industry quite impressively in past years. He has succeeded in restructuring DBA in a very short timeframe. Today, the airline is entirely in the black, flexible and cost-oriented. Just a few days ago, Wöhrl also laid the financial foundation for future growth together with a new investor. These are excellent conditions for giving LTU new strategic options in the future", said Egner, who is also Chairman of LTU’s Supervisory Board.
