HL and miniMAL Sell Red Plastic Noses for Needy Children

Some 1,600 HL and miniMAL stores throughout Germany will begin selling red plastic noses to their customers on February 9, 2004, to bring more cheer to charity donations in Germany. The net proceeds from the sale go to the "Red Nose Day 2004" initiative, which is calling for donations this year under the motto, "Red hair for children in need". The own chain outlets of the Rewe Distribution Group support the charity initiative as it begins taking donations for needy youth and children with the help of the ProSieben television network, supported by countless stars from the comedy, music, and entertainment branches. The HL and miniMAL stores collected 300,000 euros in donations for charitable projects for needy children by selling the red noses for last year's event.

"Red Nose Day 2004" culminates in the big Comedy Charity Show on March 26, 2004, in Cologne, presented by the popular stars Thomas Hermanns and Sonya Kraus. ProSieben will televise the event live from Cologne's Coloneum centre starting at 20.15 hours. Well known stars including Michael "Bully" Herbig, Stefan Raab, Barbara Schöneberger, Atze Schröder, Hugo Egon Balder, Oliver Pocher, Axel Stein, Joey Kelly, and many more will also participate.
