Senior Management of toom BauMarkt DIY Withdraws on Mutual Agreement

Jan Kunath to lead the DIY business on a provisional basis
With immediate effect, Jan Kunath, head of the Strategic Business Unit "Full-range National", will take over the senior management tasks at toom BauMarkt on a provisional basis. From 1 May 2009, Kunath will - as universal agent - assume from Josef Sanktjohaner's Management Board duties the responsibility for the further development of REWE Group's toom BauMarkt and ProMarkt specialist stores as well as for the B2B business.
The Management Board of REWE Group considers it necessary to respond to the current challenges toom BauMarkt is facing - especially against the backdrop of the difficult business environment prevailing in Germany. At the same time, the Management Board expressed its gratitude to Rothacher and Söffge for their willingness to allow the personal restructuring of toom BauMarkt's senior management by resigning from their posts and thanked them for the achievements accomplished during the past years. The growth of the DIY store business under the umbrella of REWE Group, the integration of acquisitions and the restructuring of the toom BauMarkt DIY store concept forms a solid basis for a successful future development of this sales line, which is the number three in the German DIY business with its approximately 400 stores, 15,000 employees and a turnover of more than 2 billion euros.
