Third SELGROS Cash-and-Carry Store to Open in Vnukovo Near Moscow

With the opening of the third SELGROS cash-and-carry store, transGourmet - a joint venture of REWE Group and Coop Switzerland - continues its expansion in Russia and creates a total of 250 new jobs in the city of Vnukovo near Moscow. From 4 March 2010, SELGROS cash-and-carry will offer from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. a comprehensive range of food and non-food products at favourable wholesale prices on a sales floor area in modern design covering more than 8,000 square metres. In addition to well-known international brand products, SELGROS offers in Russia also a broad range of local and regional products. Special attention was given to an even more generous presentation of the fresh-food divisions; this modified sales concept is to attract even more the customers' attention for products of this category. The first SELGROS outlet was opened in Kotelniki near Moscow in 2008; the second one opened its doors in the city of Rjasan in March 2009.

"We are particularly happy that the store opened in Vnukovo is already our second location in the greater Moscow area; this underlines our successful course of growth in Russia even in times of general economic crises", said Uwe Roessler, managing director of SELGROS cash-and-carry Russia, in Moscow. The total investment amounted to approximately 15 million euros. Further store openings in Russia are currently being planned.

SELGROS cash-and-carry outlets are characterised particularly by an especially high degree of service and product quality as well as a favourable value-for-money policy throughout all product assortments. The wholesale company is one of the leading international operators working with a "customer card system" and has around 4 million customers throughout Europe from areas such as restaurants, hotels, retail stores, kiosks, petrol station shops, party service firms, large-scale and company canteen kitchens, service providers and all kind of other commercial wholesale customers.

The FEGROS/SELGROS Group currently operates a total of 76 outlets, with 44 in Germany, 18 in Romania, 12 in Poland and 2 in Russia. More than 14,500 employees generate an annual turnover of approximately three billion euros. The company belongs to the transGourmet S.E., a joint venture of the German REWE Group and the Swiss Coop in which both partners have joined their B2B activities at the beginning of 2009. With a turnover of about 6 billion euros transGourmet S.E. is the second-largest European company in wholesale and the wholesale customer service business.
