Board of Directors nominates Frank Hensel as new Member of REWE Group Management Board


Alain Caparros, Spokesman of the Management Board of the Cologne-based REWE Group, is the new Vice President of the multinational purchasing co-operative COOPERNIC. This European alliance among five independent companies - REWE Group (Germany), Colruyt (Belgium), Conad (Italy), Coop (Switzerland), and E.Leclerc (France) - combines in Europe the purchasing volume of 17,500 stores in 17 countries to a sum total in turnover of around 90 billion euros. COOPERNIC was founded in Brussels on February 16, 2006. The President is Michel-Edouard Leclerc, the French co-president of "Association des Centres E.Leclerc".

Frank Hensel, REWE Group Management Board Member in charge of purchasing, is to take over the prior duties of Alain Caparros on the Board of Directors. The new delegate is Dirk Depoorter (Colruyt).

REWE Group (REWE, BILLA, PENNY) earns a turnover of nearly 42 billion euros, employs a workforce of 260,000, and operates some 12,000 stores in 13 countries, making REWE Group the number three in European food trading. Over 30 percent of its total turnover is earned at its foreign stores. Travel is the second core business for REWE Group just after food trading.
