combines team spirit, speed, emotion and joy of life. These are aspects which associate football with the trading industry. REWE Group is the main and jersey sponsor for the FC Cologne football club, while PENNY provides the same support for FC Energie Cottbus football club. In Austria REWE International AG sponsors the Austria Vienna football club. As premium partner for the German women's national football team REWE gives the players the thumbs up for defending the World Championship title in their home country in 2011.
And REWE Group is also actively involved in other types of sports: The Brose Baskets basketball team in Bamberg and the Rhineland handball club TSV Dormagen are also partners. For many years, runners at the Cologne Marathon have already been given food to provide them with energy along the course of the race and in the REWE Provisions Village.
As official promoter of the school sports association "Class in Sports - Initiative for Daily School Sports" support is already provided for school children. The association is trying to improve privately backed school sports opportunities in both a qualitative and quantitative sense. The aim is to encourage primary-school children to become more active and help children fight obesity.

Since 2009 REWE has been the official nutrition partner of the German Football Association (DFB) and has developed the "REWE Vitality Programme" together with the chef for the German national football team, Holger Stromberg. REWE is also co-founder of the initiative "5-a-Day", which is aimed at persuading consumers to eat healthier food. With its annual school snack bag campaign REWE Group is committed to providing healthy food for first-graders.

An increasing number of Germans – including a growing number of children and youth – are living on the breadline. And supermarket shelves brimming with goods can't hide this fact. REWE Group has therefore placed itself at the forefront of the "biggest public social initiative", the Dinner Table chapters. As one of the "oldest" sponsors of the support network, more than 5,000 supermarkets (REWE, PENNY, toom) and warehouses of REWE Group are helping the over 800 local Dinner Table chapters in Germany. This makes them by far the biggest sponsor of food which can no longer be sold but can be eaten without any hesitation. PENNY is the first and only discounter to actively participate in this sponsoring campaign throughout Germany. Through membership in the sponsoring association "S20 - The Sponsors' Voice" REWE Group is in constant dialogue with other big sponsors throughout Germany who also belong to this association.
