REWE-Zentrale begins its operations in Cologne and is entered into the cooperative registry. Seventeen purchasing cooperatives had joined forces by the end of 1926 and agreed to found the organisation. The name REWE is derived from the German abbreviation of Revisionsverband der Westkauf-Genossenschaften ("auditing association of western purchasing cooperatives").
To demonstrate the uniformity of the REWE organisation, new guidelines are issued on the use and design of the "REWE" logo.
In April, activities at REWE Head Office finally collapse because of the war. A branch office in Cologne starts up Head Office businesses again as early as August.
